Sal Cape Verde the ultimate adventure destination

Heading to a small island just off the coast of Africa we were ready to chill out and casually explore the island and spend some time topping up our tan. It quickly became apparent that there is so much to do in Cape Verde our days of tan topping quickly became limited.
Locals along the beach were ready with their sales boards to show us what Cape Verde had to offer. We booked our tours with Carlos through Dilan and Ola tours and had an amazing time with a range of adrenaline packed activities. 

Quad Biking
With landscapes boasting salt mines, sand dunes and extinct volcanic craters – Sal is the perfect destination for a spot of quad biking. Rent the quad to explore the island independently or take part in a guided tour to make sure you fully meet all of the sights. 
The whole island is only 35km in length and 12km in width meaning you can fit heaps of the island into a few hours whizzing around on a quad.  Horse back riding
Perfect for those with years of riding experience ready to gallop or those looking for a beginners stroll, horse back riding along the beach in Sal is an experience not to be missed.
We headed out for our stroll just before sunset ready to take in some almighty views. Galloping up to the top of sand dunes to really take in the full view of the beach. Once down at the bottom off we went for a dip in the sea to cool off from the warm setting sun. Sailing adventures

Setting sail off the coast of Cape Verde from a small fishing village on the harbour is the perfect way to take in the views. As you sail around the island the cliffs and rick formations Make for great photo opportunities. 
There are some special spots amongst the shore that make for the best snorkelling on the island. On special days also you have the perk of watching dolphins enjoy the waves.  Jeep island tours 

Heading out on the back of an open back jeep is defiantly one of the best ways to explore the island of Sal. With so much to see in such a short landscape you can defiantly pack in everything.  Salt mines

Exploring the salt mines locals used to export salt years ago. This is now a dying trade taken over by bigger islands with bigger machines, the mines are now used to provide local produce and serve a long standing tourist attraction. Shark paddling 

Stepping off the shore on the edge of the west of the island over the rocky beach a few meters off the shore an array of different sized lemon sharks can be found.Be sure to bring some fish food to see the full shark frenzy. Local fishing villages

Small local fishing villages in Sal offer the perfect spot or local people watching. The colourful boats and clay built buildings offer local gifts and crafts. Turtle sanctuary

On the beach in Santa Maria the turtle sanctuary can be found. Everyday from 5:00-6:00pm the marine biologists can be seen checking the eggs and caring for the turtles before they move them to the sea. 
Cape Verde put the into place following title poaching and to protect this dying breed.
 The blue eye
Olho Azul quite amply named the blue eye is a natural rock formation and pool which with the help of the day sun a clear blue shine and reflection can be seen out from he pools ‘eye’.Be sure to stick around and view the surrounding coves and caves and even take part in cliff jumping from the top. Salt lake spa
Spend some time floating in the salt lakes of Pedra Lume the natural salt does wonders for your skin and the unique blend of salt and water allows you to freely float on the water top. 

Kite surf beach

Cape Verde is well known by the coastly winds that grace that grace the island.Due to this the island of Sal has a beach dedicated to kite surfing. Kite surfing schools and equipments stalls have everything you need to take part.
