Staying at Hotel Friends Dusseldorf Downtown

For our stay in Dusseldorf we had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Friends Dusseldorf Downtown. As Instagrammers we are constantly on the lookout for unique one of kind hotels that have the opportunity for plenty of photo opportunities. Hotel Friends had exactly that and more.

The hotel had everything that we value in a hotel including unique artefacts and decorations, comfortable communal areas and a room with a roof top terrace.

Dusseldorf

Dusseldorf is one the largest cities in western Germany and takes it’s position along the River Rhine. The river flows from Switzerland through Germany until it reaches the Netherlands making Dusseldorf a key location for transporting goods and industrial work. The city is also famous for fashion and Dusseldorf is the fashion capital of Germany. High end designers and new designers are at large here and innovative fashion introduced.

The location

Hotel Friends is located in Downtown Dusseldorf. The area is an edgy part to the city that is home to an array of chic cafes, restaurants and bars. The hotel is close to Altstadt the Old Town where the main tourist attractions can be found. This includes the main lively part of the city the Rhine Promenade along the Rhine River which can be reached by a. 15-20 minute walk.

Getting around from the hotel

Taxi’s

Local taxi’s can be hailed from designated spots or called for you from your accommodation. Uber also works in the city and usually at a slightly lower price than taxi’s as they charge less by kilometre. Uber’s can be booked directly via the app.

Public transport

Dusseldorf has an excellent public transport system that spams from buses, taxi’s and trains. Day tickets can be purchased as well as single journey’s but do not forget to validate your ticket.

Bikes and electric scooters

Renting pedal bikes and electric scooters is an exceptionally good and fast way to see the city and can be done in the same way as the locals.

The concept

The concept of the hotel is friends all around. The space is a place for friends to hang out in a cool environment and have drinks and meals with friends. The hotel influences social gatherings and the reception and leisure areas are an excellent place to enjoy drinks, meals and down time amongst the 70’s style decor and comfortable seating areas. Excellent areas are provided for retro board games to be played amongst friends.

The decor

The hotel itself has a unique retro vibe and is packed full of retro antics to give the hotel it’s unique look. From typewriters, bicycles and chairs. The whole hotel is inspired by the 70s and the look is threaded throughout.

The rooms

Each room in the hotel has a unique decorative vibe and it’s own theme. Our very unique room offered very unique artefacts from around the room including typewriters, pictures, shoes and cabinets.

Rooms are provided to suit the individual and you can self select the one that best suits you. Rooms for children have items such as teepee’s to keep the children busy.
