A complete guide to shopping in Madrid

The capital of Spain’s shopping possibilities are endless as stores can be found to meet every taste and budget. At almost every turn shops can be found to spark the splurge in everyone. Without a doubt challenging the fashion world just like it’s European neighbours London, Paris and Milan.

Starting at the hub of the city shopping can be taken on from every corner of this square. Local shops offering fans and flamenco skirts can be seen in contrast with European high street stores such as Topshop and Sephora. Head down the side streets off of the square for smaller boutiques offering handcrafted leather shoes and boots for a truly Spanish souvenir.   Gran Via

This busy street has an endless hustle and bustle as locals, tourists and buisness workers alike head to these high street stores. Namely Spanish fashion brands such as Zara, Berskha, Mango and Stardivious take pride of place for everyone looking for the unique Spanish style. Lining the streets alongside the Spanish classics are brands such as H&M, Primark and Adidas. Primark obviously a clear favourite as the flagship store boasts 5 floors showcasing the brands best looks.  Calle de Fuencarral

Heading away from the Gran Via down it’s side streets lies Calle de Fuencarral. Taking the name of the trendier, hippier style of shopping in Madrid this street bears towards the Old town and showcases smaller boutiques and Spanish treasures.    Calle de Serrano

For a more high end shopping experience head to the nicknamed ‘Golden mile’ to see what’s on offer. High end retailers such as Cartier, Gucci and Louis Vuitton to name but a few are ready in all of their glory to be explored. High end department stores can also be found here alongside ABC Serrano a small mall complex offering smaller boutique shops.  El Rastro

Hitting El Rastro’s Sunday morning flea market is definitely a shopping experience in Madrid not to be missed. The market is open until 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and is an ideal place to spend a chilled Sunday in this trendy part of town. Fashion stalls can be found selling the best in traditional and trendy Spanish fashion alongside shoes, 
jewellery and accessories. Heading down the connecting side streets small boutiques and vintage clothing stores are a great place to browse. If you have the space. great vintage furniture shops frequent this area.  Las Rozas Village

Heading out of the city by either bus, taxi or coach a trip to the village outlet shops is one not to be missed. Featuring exclusive brands such as Armani, Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss this stylish outlet is a day out in itself. Head to the information centre to grab your tourist coupon book to make some real savings. The outlet is located 30 minutes outside of Madrid but well worth the trip.
